Once again we were faced with another tough away fixture to the early league leaders who had a 100% record after two games. Inter Class another of the newly promoted teams started very brightly and quickly dominated the game with their ‘one-touch’ pass and good movement off the ball, which at times had us chasing shadows. Not surprisingly Inter Class took an early lead and this was the ‘shock’ that we needed to raise our game.
When we started to get on the ball Inter Class had no answers to our strong physical play, particular at set plays they struggled with our aerial power and this resulted in our equaliser, when Kevin Sandhu powered a header into the roof of the net, from a corner. At this point our confidence was high and we created further chances at set plays, but for ‘last ditch’ defending we were unlucky not to take a lead. A poor defensive wall allowed Inter Class to score direct from a free kick from 25 yards, to take a 2-1, which they held for 5 minutes when in form striker Ishmael scored our equaliser.
Whilst not playing our best football, we were well organised and this frustrated Inter Class and they managed to get two players sent off. We quickly took command of the game and scored two goals to take a 2-4 lead (Leroy Maye & Ishmael). Believing the game was won we took our foot off the pedal, but Inter Class showed great fighting spirit with nine men and score another goal with a great 25 yard shot that nestled right in the top corner. Inter Class threw caution to the wind to grab an equaliser and this opened up the game and within the last time minutes we created numerous chances that were wasted. We could have ended up with eight goals, but in the end we were happy with the three points as Inter Class played better with nine men.
